Questa Studio Arts Tour 2019
August 17-18, 2019
“Where artistic traditions meet”
Explore the dramatic scenery of northern Taos County and meet our inspired artists. Studios open Saturday-Sunday 10am-5pm.
This is the first of 2019’s art tours in northern New Mexico. Artists from Questa and the surrounding communities open their studios or gather at easy-to-find hubs offering unique, hand-crafted works from the traditional to the modern. From hand-carved bultos to exquisite jewelry, stunning photography, paintings, pottery and more. The route begins on the south side of Questa, reaches the edge of the national forest and ends north, in Sunshine Valley. Start early, add a hike in the national monument or a drive around the Enchanted Circle, and your day will be unforgettable.
The Questa Studio Arts Tour is now in it’s fourth year and growing. 2018 saw visitors from our local Questa and Taos area, other regional towns and cities in New Mexico and out of state visitors from Colorado, Texas, Arizona and more.
The 2018 tour will find more than 38 artists and craftspeople displaying their work at 13 different stops. Visitors can view and purchase art works including, but not limited to, paintings, jewelry, photography, pottery, glassworks, traditional stained glass work, quilting, works in leather, woodworking, printmaking, recycled art and more.
Visitors will also be able to experience a guided History Trail Walk starting at 10am on Saturday, August 17th at the corner stop light. Local historian Flavio Cisneros will lead a lively discussion of local history on the .6 mile loop. This tour will also take you through the beautiful restored St. Anthony Church. The stained glass windows in St. Anthony Church were created at the Questa Stained Glass Studio, which is stop #5, in the back of the CarQuest Auto Store!
Lunch options include our northern art hubs in Sunshine Valley at Ute Air, #13, with chef Kathy Morsell creating an Mediterranean Lunch, provided by our local organic Cerro Vista Farm, or have Posole up in El Rito , at the Oasis of Lorian, #12. Other options include local area restaurants and the Questa Farmers Market. You might also find a couple food trucks on the side of the road. Tacos y Mas is a local favorite.
After viewing beautiful art and fine crafts, visitors can experience our beautiful scenery and hiking trails. Wild Rivers Recreation Area is great place to hike and camp and is just a few miles from Questa.
Come out and visit to have the Questa Adventure! Where artistic and cultural crossroads meet.
